Fired Twice for Finish

After being fired for strength, ceramic ware has to be re-fired to a higher temperature to vitrify the clay body and the glaze coating. This produces a brilliant glossy and glass-like finish that seals the clay underneath and makes it impermeable. Not all impermeable food safe glazes result in a glossy finish and some of our pieces may have satin or matte glazes on the outside as part of their design. All of our hollow pieces are finished with a vitrified glaze on the inside for easier cleaning.
